Sound Bowl Facilitator
My name is Neeko Little. I’m a sound bowl facilitator, everyday meditator and all out advocate for all things meditation and mindfulness. Over the last few years, meditation has been one of the things in my self-care arsenal that’s helped me to maintain my sense of balance and mental clarity. I began incorporating meditation into my self-care routine when COVID 19 transmission rates and racial tensions were at an all-time high in 2020. After social distancing was implemented, I began to feel extremely isolated, bringing about a great deal of stress, anxiety, and even panic. With the advice of a great support system, and the motivation of a therapist, I searched for ways to keep myself in a better mental space. Experimenting with meditation apps like "headspace" and "waking up" gave me a great introduction to meditation, and while meditation didn’t eliminate the stress, anxiety, or even sadness, meditation was one of the things that gave me a daily dose of clarity. In practicing more and more consistently, I'm reminded in stressful or overwhelming moments to pause and focus on my breathing. In doing so, my racing mind can be put at ease, and my sense of balance is restored.
My Approach
In deepening my meditation practice, I began experimenting with sound therapy. Sound therapy, or a sound bath, can be compromised of any number of musical instruments. I found myself extremely attracted to the sounds and frequencies produced by quartz crystal singing bowls. After purchasing singing bowls of my own, and experiencing the benefits for myself, I felt almost compelled to share my experience with others. Sound baths allow you to completely let go, quiet the external noise, and receive an energetic re-alignment using powerful sound vibration. Quartz crystal singing bowls produce healing energies that are used to induce relaxation, expansion, clearing, and rejuvenation on an energetic level. The various frequencies work from the "inside" out and, allow for the relief of physical, mental, or emotional stress.
What to Expect
DURING A SOUND BATH
Once the mediation begins, the sound will begin to flow through you, vibrating every cell in your body. You may experience pleasant relaxation, clarity on something troubling you, lucid dreaming, deep restful sleep, hidden emotions may surface to be processed, or even an out-of-body experience may occur. By the end of this experience, you should feel as though your "monkey mind" has slowed down, and you find it easier to ground yourself in the present moment.
